Harwich Cranberry Harvest Road Race Route - Sunday Oct. 4th
Harwich Cranberry Harvest
Half Marathon and 7.3 mile Road Race

October 4, 2009, 11:00 A.M., Harwich High School


The route of the race is below.  Over 1,400 runners will take part in this event.  From the hours of 10:30 A.M. until approximately 2:00 P.M. motorist can expect significant traffic detours and delays along the route of the race.  
Please adjust your travel plans accordingly.


The route of the half marathon is as follows (See Map Below):

The staging area for the event is the Harwich High School.  Runners will line up on Oak Street.  The runners will proceed south on Oak Street to Main Street (Route 39).  The runners will then turn right on Main Street to Route 124 where they will turn right onto Route 124 (Pleasant Lake Ave), then right onto Old Colony Road.  They will proceed to Oak Street and turn north following Oak Street to Queen Anne Road.  They will then turn right onto Queen Anne Road and follow to Depot Road where they will turn right onto Depot Road and cross Route 39 (Orleans Road).  They will continue south on Depot Road and cross Route 28 onto Uncle Venies Road.  Runners will proceed to Red River Beach and turn right going through the parking lot to Old Wharf Road then onto Julien Road.  The runners will then turn left onto Route 28 for a short distance before turning right onto Gorham Road.  Upon entering Gorham Road, runners will immediately turn left onto Hoyt Road and follow to Bank Street.  They will then cross Bank Street onto Miles Street to Route 28 at which time they will turn right then take an immediate left onto Wyndemere Road to Lower County Road where they will turn right.  Runners will follow Lower County Road to Earle Road where they will turn right and follow to Route 28.  Upon reaching Route 28, runners will turn right then take a quick left onto Lothrop Avenue.  They will follow Lothrop Avenue to Great Western Road then cross Great Western Road to a right onto the Cape Cod Rail Trail.  Runners will then follow the Rail Trail to the split where the Rail Trail becomes the Old Cape Rail Trail and follow to Route 124 (Pleasant Lake Avenue).  Runners will cross Route 124 and continue on the bike path along Old Colony Road to Oak Street.  Runners will then turn left on Oak Street to the finish line at the High School.


Runners taking part in the 7.3 mile run will follow the above route as far as the Old Cape Rail Trail on Depot Road in South Harwich.  At this location they will turn right onto the bike trail and follow to Route 39 (Orleans Road).  They will cross Route 39 and continue on the bike trail to Oak Street and turn right to the finish line.

Motorist may be stopped for up to 10 minutes
to allow runners to cross intersections
